Grand Forks is a community located in the southern interior of British Columbia, in what is known as the Boundary Country; located between the Okanagan Valley and the Kootenays. The area has its roots tied to the mining and railroad boom of the 1890s and early 1900s.  Grand Forks’ economy today is based on the lumber industry with tourism playing a large part in its economic growth. The original population started with a few farmers but continued to grow. Today the population is approximately 4,000 with a surrounding area population of over 10,000.
